Good morning family, in today’s devotion, let’s talk about today’s thought, “Because Christ Came | Pt.1”.

Today’s thoughts come from Isaiah 9:6-7 (AMPC) which says, 6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.

For Christians, the season of Advent anticipates the coming of Christ from three different perspectives. For those who are not familiar with the term, “Advent” is a season observed in many Christian churches, as a time of expectant waiting and preparation, for both the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas, and the return of Jesus at the Second Coming. 

Philip Pfatteicher, a former professor at East Stroudsberg University, and author of the book “Journey Into The Heart Of God”, noted that “since 1153 a.d., Christians have spoken of the three comings of Christ: 

• His coming in the flesh in Bethlehem; (the 2000 year old past event) 
• His coming into our hearts daily; (the ongoing experience of God’s transformative work within us)
• His coming in glory at the end of time (the time/event we all look towards) 

Let’s look at the first coming of Christ; Christ came in the flesh in Bethlehem.

Not only did he come to this earth, He came in the flesh, robed just like you and me; and He did this so that He might experience everything we go through in the flesh, so that His redemptive work, would touch every area of who we are.  

Hebrews 4:15-16 (AMPC)

15 For we do not have a High Priest Who is unable to understand and sympathize and have a shared feeling with our weaknesses and infirmities and liability to the assaults of temptation, but One Who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.

• Because Christ came in the flesh | We have a God who understands our human frailties, and is not put-off because of the messes and mistakes we make in life; but we have a God who offers His love and grace, freely to us all;
• Because Christ came in the flesh | We are forgiven, once we accept His gift of mercy, as the shedding of His blood has paid the ransom for all our sins;
• Because Christ came in the flesh | We can enter in, and draw near to God’s presence, to find help in our everyday lives, despite our failures, God is always willing to accept us, as we accept His Son

Pray with me: Father, I thank you today that you could have allowed Christ to remain on the throne in the eternal heavenly realm, but you loved us so much that you allowed Him to come down to us in physical human form, so that He could experience everything humanity goes through, and not only redeem us, but to be touch by our frailties and empower us to be strong in our weaknesses. Thank you Lord Jesus that you came Amen.
